SINEAD O'CONNER - Enamelled work
Enamelling has become my focus in the last three years after a fire destroyed the building that my silver jewellery studio was in. While trying to find a new studio I decided to do a course in enamelling and I was hooked! I have since become a member of The Guild of Enamellers and The British Society of Enamelling. This year I was very honoured to achieve several awards at The Guild of Enamelling annual conference, including The Chairmans Award, and the award for the most innovative use of enamel. I have also been selected to exhibit this year at The British Society of Enameller’s Enamel Matter exhibition at The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists
Cruan is Irish Gailge for enamel.
JANE CHETWYND - Mixed Media and Textile
Janes work explores colour and texture in a variety of media. Her current work is primarily textiles that embrace ideas around memory, travel, sentiment and ancestry. Jane is interested in the rituals of life, traces of before, patina and tokens of existence. Her work is rich in texture and layered with slow thoughtful gestures of stitch and fabric manipulation. The inclusion of old materials embraces a will to preserve both memory and the planet. Imagery and ideas are found in her immediate surroundings, on travels and in museums.
SAMVADO - Wood Stone Sculpture
One touch of nature connects you to the whole world…
…Whereas our window on the universe is often mislaid in survival living, then sympathetic wooden sculptures remind us through the tree of the larger spheres of life.
Wood is sourced mostly from Cornish gardens; some recycled foreign woods are used for durability. It is turned to reveal the dark heartwood in a bowl made from the whole diameter, lighter sap outside, hollowed within. Now, it is put to dry for months, then sanded as many grades as needed, and Danish oil is added for a safe, protective finish.
JULIA SCHOFIELD - Jewellery
Julia's style varies considerably so you may find a statement choker capable of impressing with a tailored business suit, or some dangly earrings which make you feel brilliant on an off-day. There may be a romantic necklace to wear for lunch in the garden with a summer dress, or a sophisticated pendant and matching earrings to ravish you into the night at a black-tie event. Special Occasion Jewellery is always welcomed as Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary presents. Earrings make a perfect thank-you gift.
KAREN NEEDHAM - Ceramics
Cornish born on the North Coast of Cornwall, surrounded by our beautiful countryside, who wouldn’t be inspired by the sea, rugged coastline, moorlands & nature's rich colours.
The work produced at Lizard Art is a combination of stoneware clays, wheel thrown & hand-built forms with surface decoration of lava & standard glazes, allowing her to convey & share the narrative, textures and tactility of sand, cliffs & sea.
A member of the Cornwall Ceramics & Glass Group, London Potters Association.
RACHEL STOWE - Jewellery
Rachel Stowe began her training at Herefordshire Art College and completed an HND in Textiles and Fashion. In 1997, she started her own business, where she produces unique hand-painted and printed silk and velvet accessories. She experiments with various techniques, including devore, dye reduction, wax resist, screen printing, and hand painting. She gained an MA in textiles in 2001 at Birmingham University and followed that with a Cert Ed in 2006.
SARAH TREWHELLA - Glass
I produce work derived from my interest in life and death cycles, the seasons and natural plant and animal forms. I have a fascination with the sinister side of nature and predatory creatures. I have been working in glass and mixed media for the past 15yrs using the techniques of Pate de Verre, fusing, casting and fine metalwork incorporating recycled materials where possible.
