I studied Painting and Printmaking at falmouth School of art in the 1990s, my work comprised of large, abstract Monoprints with a strong interplay of colour. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art.
This latest work started with an exercise at drawing bottles, pots, vases, moving away from my non-figurative painting; becoming interested in composition, lighting, and looking at items around the home in a different way. Often there's a story behind a simple object.
I am also interested in the historical mystery of 'the shadow', how shadows were used by neolithic people in celebration and in the creation of cave paintings of animals from silhouettes thrown by small carvings of animals placed in front of an oil lamp.
