After completing a Foundation course at Central School of Art , London, in 1972 , I then attended a degree course in Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art from 1972 -’75. I have lived and worked here in Cornwall ever since.
My employment has been varied, but included Technician at Falmouth School of Art in the late 80’s and also T.N. Lawrence & Son Ltd. Art Supplies in the early 1990’s, where I became manager and worked there until their relocation to Hove in the winter of 2009.
Thoughout this time I continued to work as a printmaker.
I was a founder member of The Small Print Works in Penzance, and also exhibited in galleries locally. I have sold work in some London based galleries and nationally as an exhibitor with the Society of Wood Engravers.
In 2013 I became a member of the CAST Studios in Helston. Where I now work producing , drawings, paintings and Fine Art Relief Prints. I have run some small print classes at Lawrences and recently assisted doing the same at CAST and on the piazza in Truro.
I love Printmaking and enjoy working with the traditional restraints of the relief print, but I also like to push its boundries with more experimental monoprints . My wood engravings are produced using end grain boxwood blocks finished and polished then cut into with small chisels and printed as you would a lino cut.
With my paintings and drawings, I try to unravel the intricacies in found objects and places which I find appealing.
Examples of my work diplayed on this page are very varied but hopfully give some idea as to the different mediums I use.
