I work with mixed media using acrylic paint on a variety of wood board, canvas and paper. Shapes emerge when layers of paint are applied and charcoal, pencil and pastel marks define them.
Found objects from the beach and observations of the natural landscape are inspiring and prompt ideas for sketches and studies. Paintings develop from these and my aim is to achieve a personal interpretation, harmonious in composition, colour and pattern which provides an imaginative, interesting and abstracted image with elements of realism. I would describe my style as abstract realism.
I studied drawing and art history at Winchester School of Art and regularly attend life drawing classes at St Ives School of Painting.
I have exhibitied in London, Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex and in Cornwall at the Penwith Gallery, St Ives; Lizard Art Co-operative, Stableyard Gallery, Trelowarren; Coast Colour Canvas Gallery, Roskilly's Farm, St Keverne
